Introducing Groove Stu: A powerhouse collective rooted in the rich legacy of soul, funk, and R&B, Groove Stu has been redefining modern music since 1999. With a style that pays homage to legends like The Isley Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, Prince, and Mint Condition, the band infuses classic sounds with a fresh, genre-blending approach all their own. Groove Stu isn't just about the groove—they’re about real vocals, real musicianship, and real stories.

Comprised of seasoned writers, producers, and performers, Groove Stu exploded onto the scene with their critically acclaimed 2003 debut album, Authentic 4.10 Sessions. Entirely independent, the album showcased their fearless creativity, effortlessly merging soul, hip hop, jazz, and reggae into one cohesive and captivating sound. Their genre-defying style quickly established them as musical innovators with something important to say.

Their magnetic live presence has taken them across the globe and earned them a place alongside icons such as Frankie Beverly and Maze, Boyz II Men, Erykah Badu, Mint Condition, Eric Roberson, Raheem DeVaughn, and Kindred the Family Soul. In 2006, they captured the raw energy of their performances with the concert DVD Live and Direct From Baltimore, cementing their status as one of the most dynamic live acts around.

Groove Stu’s artistry has not gone unnoticed. In 2012, they were nominated for Duo or Group of the Year by the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, followed by three nominations at the 2013 Washington Area Music Association Awards, including Best Urban Contemporary Duo or Group, Best Urban Contemporary Recording for Artofficial Substance, and Best Urban Contemporary Vocalist for lead singer Omar Sharif. Most recently, the band received another SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award nomination in 2024 for Duo or Group of the Year, affirming their continued impact on the independent soul music scene.

After a brief hiatus, Groove Stu returned stronger than ever with the 2012 release of Artofficial Substance, an album that marked a deeper, more introspective era for the band. Now, with a highly anticipated new album slated for Fall 2025, Groove Stu is ready to take their music and message to new heights.
